New Tour Bus

Day 4 – 6/04/10
Really early start today as I had to catch the new bus to Adelaide. Shared a room with the lovely Saskia last night from Holland – the only original girl from my previous tour, and we caught our new bus outside the Base hostel in St Kilda. People on new bus seemed nice but the atmosphere seemed more reserved than on my last bus. On way stopped at Torquay – the birthplace of Quiksilver & Ripcurl and also went to the famous Bells Beach where the Ripcurl Pro Surf competition is held. Weather was unfortunately a bit crappy and overcast though :( We then went along the Great Ocean Road for the awesome views of the beach & ocean and had my first sighting of a wild koala :)ooooo/aaaah!

Later that day did the Otway Fly Tree walk which is exactly what it says on the tin and is a suspended walk along the treetops in the rainforest.

THEN in the evening went back to the coast where the Twelve Apostles reside – basically they’re stacks and formations of sandstone along the beach which have been carved and eroded away by the sea over years– doesn’t sound that amazing but literally one of the most impressive things I have seen so far. I cashed out and invested in a helicopter ride for about £50 across the coast for some amazing views of the Apostles. It was awesomeeee :) To make up for the dire accommodation we stayed in the previous night, we now have a really nice private chalet/flat kind of thing to ourselves with our own kitchen/toilets/balcony etc. and in the evening we had BBQ food out on the balcony sipping wine until the late hours. Overuse of the word ‘awesome’ perhaps... but it really was!
